1989 Mazda MX5 Eunos 0.0L Petrol · G706 AUD

This 1989 Mazda MX-5 Eunos has a clean MOT history with no defects recorded at any of its last five tests, which is a very positive sign. However, the most recent test was in March 2022, meaning it has not been tested for over four years. This long gap makes the current condition uncertain, as any issues that have developed since then are not captured in the records. The mileage pattern shows very little use between 2016 and 2022, with the car covering only about 4,825 miles in roughly six years. The recorded mileage has not changed since the 2022 test, which suggests it may have been parked up or used very sparingly since then. This low annual mileage is well below average for a 37-year-old car, and while it can indicate light use, it also raises the risk of problems from long periods of standing, such as seized brakes, perished rubber hoses, stiff suspension bushes, and fuel system issues. The condition trend appears stable based on the MOT history alone, but the lack of recent testing means you cannot rely on that stability. The car has not been through a test in over four years, so any deterioration that has occurred is unknown. The mileage relative to age is ambiguous: it could mean the car was cherished and used gently, or it could mean it has sat idle for long stretches, which can cause more harm than regular use. A buyer should first inspect the underside for corrosion, especially on the sills, chassis rails, and suspension mounting points, as these are common problem areas on older MX-5s.
