1990 Ford Escort 1.3L Petrol · G778 DPU

The vehicle presents a stable maintenance profile with no significant mechanical trends or recurring failures documented in the recent history. The most recent recorded test in June 2022 at 63,891 miles resulted in a pass with no advisories. While the vehicle failed a test on 21 June 2022 at 63,887 miles, the lack of recorded defects suggests a minor, non-specific issue was rectified immediately to achieve the subsequent pass. The mileage accumulation is exceptionally low for a 1990 model, averaging approximately 1,775 miles per year over the recorded period. The data shows a consistent, slow progression from 61,975 miles in April 2018 to 63,891 miles in June 2022. This pattern indicates the vehicle has spent significant time stationary or has seen very light seasonal use. Such low usage can often lead to age-related degradation in rubber components and fluids despite the low mechanical wear on the engine and drivetrain. A physical inspection should focus on age-related deterioration rather than high-mileage wear. Given the long periods of inactivity implied by the mileage, a buyer must scrutinize the condition of the suspension bushes, coil springs, and various rubber seals for signs of cracking or perished material. The braking system should be checked for seized calipers or corroded brake lines, as vehicles that sit for extended periods are prone to moisture ingress and oxidation. Structural integrity remains a primary concern for a vehicle of this era. While the MOT history is clean, the inspector should look for surface corrosion or structural rot in the sills, floor pans, and suspension mounting points. Checking the condition of the fuel lines and the integrity of the exhaust system is also necessary to ensure that long-term standing has not compromised the vehicle's ability to meet emissions standards or maintain structural soundness.
