2016 Honda CBR 0.6L Petrol · GC65 DWN

The latest MOT test conducted on 2 July 2026 resulted in a pass with no defects or advisories recorded. Evaluating the historical data since 2019, the maintenance trend is remarkably stable. The vehicle has consistently passed its annual inspections with very few issues, with only two minor advisories regarding front tyre wear recorded in 2020 and 2023. The absence of any recorded structural corrosion, brake failures, or exhaust emissions issues suggests a vehicle that has been well-maintained and kept in good mechanical order. The recorded mileage of 13,120 miles is exceptionally low for a ten-year-old motorcycle, averaging approximately 1,312 miles per year. While this indicates minimal wear on the engine internals, gearbox, and drivetrain, such a low usage rate often implies that the vehicle has spent significant periods in storage. From a mechanical perspective, this shifts the risk from wear-and-tear to degradation caused by standing, which can impact the integrity of rubber seals, the health of the battery, and the chemical stability of essential fluids. Given the low mileage and age, a prospective buyer should focus on the condition of the consumables. Carefully inspect the tyre sidewalls for signs of perishing, hairline cracking, or flat-spotting, as tyres can become unsafe due to age even if the tread depth remains legal. You should also check the brake discs for surface corrosion or pitting and ensure there is no evidence of binding calipers, which can occur when a vehicle is left stationary for long durations. The 12V battery should be tested for voltage stability and cranking power, as infrequent use often leads to premature battery failure. Finally, it is critical to verify the service history for calendar-based maintenance rather than relying solely on mileage intervals. Brake fluid and engine coolant degrade over time regardless of distance travelled, and old fluid can lead to internal corrosion or reduced braking efficiency. Inspect the front fork seals for any signs of weeping or leaks, as seals can dry out and shrink during long periods of inactivity. Ensure the engine oil has been changed recently to avoid the risks associated with moisture accumulation and sludge buildup in the sump during winter storage.
