2009 MINI Cooper 1.6L Petrol · GJ09 WXS

The 2009 MINI Cooper presents a stable and improving maintenance trend, culminating in a clean pass on 3 December 2025 at 26,349 miles with zero defects recorded. The preceding test on 13 November 2024 also passed without advisories or failures, indicating consistent upkeep across the most recent two inspections. No recurring mechanical or structural faults appear in the available record, which is a positive indicator of overall roadworthiness. The mileage pattern, however, raises a notable anomaly. Between the November 2024 test at 39,508 miles and the December 2025 test at 26,349 miles, the recorded figure has dropped by 13,159 miles. This is physically impossible under normal circumstances and strongly suggests a mileage discrepancy, most likely from a replacement odometer or a recording error. A vehicle of this age averaging roughly 1,550 miles per year is exceptionally low use, and the sudden regression in the data undermines confidence in the accuracy of the service and maintenance history. Buyers should treat the stated mileage with significant caution and verify it against any available service records, V5C documentation, and physical wear indicators on the vehicle itself. Despite the clean MOT outcomes, the mileage inconsistency warrants a thorough in-person inspection. A competent inspector should examine the condition of the brake discs, pads, and calipers for signs of corrosion or uneven wear that can develop during prolonged standing. Suspension bushes, coil springs, and anti-roll bar links should be checked for perishing, as low-mileage vehicles that sit unused for extended periods often suffer rubber deterioration. The exhaust system and underbody should be inspected for corrosion, particularly around mounting points and box sections. Tyre age and condition deserve close attention, as original or infrequently replaced tyres may show sidewall cracking regardless of remaining tread depth. The engine, gearbox, and cooling system should be assessed for leaks or seepage that can arise from infused use. Given the data anomaly, a full HPI-style check and independent mechanical inspection are strongly recommended before purchase.
