2006 Volkswagen Passat 2.0L Diesel · GP06 AGU

The 2006 Volkswagen Passat presents a stable roadworthiness profile based on its most recent MOT on 2023-10-02 at 133,409 miles, which recorded no defects. Subsequent annual tests from 2019 to 2023 also showed consistent pass results with no recorded issues, indicating a maintenance trend that has remained stable over the past four years. However, the vehicle has not undergone an MOT since October 2023, leaving a gap of 29 months as of 2026-07-16. This absence of recent testing raises concerns about potential undetected deterioration in critical systems, particularly given the car’s age and high mileage. The mileage progression aligns with an average annual usage of 6,670 miles, reflecting typical wear for a 20-year-old vehicle. The MOT records show gradual mileage increases, with no abrupt spikes or prolonged periods of inactivity. The 2020-08-01 test at 113,203 miles marked a 5,823-mile jump from the 2019-07-15 test, which may suggest seasonal or usage-based variations but no irregularities warranting immediate alarm. The absence of recurring defects in the history implies the previous owner prioritized basic upkeep, though no evidence of proactive repairs or component replacements is present. A buyer should prioritize inspecting the suspension system for worn bushes and coil springs, common wear points in older vehicles, as well as checking brake discs and calipers for uneven wear or corrosion. The exhaust system and structural integrity should also be assessed, as these components often degrade over two decades of use. While the MOT history shows no immediate risks, the lack of recent testing means hidden issues could exist. A professional inspection is advised to confirm the condition of high-mileage components and verify that the vehicle remains roadworthy.
