2002 Toyota Corolla 1.6L Petrol · GV52 AXK

The vehicle remains in a roadworthy condition with a remarkably stable maintenance trend over the last decade. The most recent test conducted on 20 July 2026 at 112,677 miles resulted in a pass, despite an advisory regarding rear brake discs being worn, pitted, or scored. This defect indicates surface degradation rather than structural failure of the braking component. Between 2013 and 2025, the vehicle maintained a clean record with no recorded defects, suggesting that the primary mechanical systems have remained within acceptable parameters during this period. At 24 years old, the recorded mileage of 112,677 miles is exceptionally low, averaging approximately 4,700 miles per year. The data shows a consistent and slow usage pattern, for example, the car covered only 6,076 miles between November 2023 and July 2026. This low-frequency use typically reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine internals compared to high-mileage vehicles of the same era. However, the long periods of inactivity implied by such mileage can sometimes lead to age-related degradation of rubber components and seals. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the braking system and suspension components. The 2026 advisory on the pitted rear discs suggests that corrosion is beginning to surface, likely due to the vehicle sitting stationary for extended periods. Given the age of the Corolla, it is also essential to check for structural corrosion on the sills and floor pans, as the MOT record does not flag rust issues in recent years. Verify the condition of the suspension bushes and tyres for cracking, as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from dry rot even if tread depth remains sufficient.
