1990 Jaguar XJR 6.0L Petrol · H2 JPP

The Jaguar XJR’s most recent MOT test, conducted on 15 October 2021 at 68,511 miles, confirms the vehicle passed without any recorded defects or advisories. This aligns with a stable maintenance trend over the past decade, as every test from 2013 to 2021—spanning nearly 7,000 miles—resulted in a clean pass. The absence of recurring advisories or defects suggests the vehicle has not experienced persistent mechanical failures, though the prolonged gap since the last test (over four years) introduces uncertainty about current condition. No evidence of worsening issues is visible in the record, but the lack of recent inspection means critical components may now require evaluation. The recorded mileage of 68,511 miles over approximately 36 years equates to roughly 1,900 miles annually, a figure unusually low for a vehicle of this age. The record shows minimal mileage progression between tests: for instance, between the 2015 and 2016 tests, the odometer only advanced by 292 miles over 11 months, indicating prolonged periods of inactivity. Such low mileage could imply the car was stored for extended durations, potentially accelerating wear on suspension bushes, coil springs, and rubber seals due to static loading. Conversely, the lack of rapid mileage accumulation—no test shows more than a few thousand miles between inspections—suggests the vehicle was not subjected to aggressive driving conditions. Given the absence of MOT advisories or defects in the record, the buyer should prioritise an in-person inspection of high-wear areas prone to deterioration over time. Focus on the suspension, particularly the condition of the rear coil springs and bushes, as these components degrade gradually even with low mileage. Check for binding rear brakes, which could arise from seized calipers or worn guide pins, though the record does not indicate prior issues. Structural integrity is another concern; inspect the chassis rails, sills, and wheel arches for corrosion, especially around welds and fastenings, as rust can compromise load-bearing sections without immediate MOT failure. Tyre tread depth and uniformity should also be verified, as the record’s clean passes do not account for post-test wear. Finally, verify the exhaust system for leaks or excessive corrosion, as emissions-related defects are not always flagged until they become severe.
