2024 Harley-Davidson Street BOB 114 1868 23 Petrol · HD04 RBO

A 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Bob 114 with no recorded DVSA MOT history presents an unusual situation for any prospective buyer evaluating used roadworthiness. Motorcycles in this category do not legally require an MOT test until they reach their first anniversary of registration, and depending on the precise first-use date, this machine may simply not yet be due for its inaugural statutory examination. The defining mechanical story here is therefore one of absence rather than evidence: there are no test outcomes, pass or fail, no advisories, and no recorded defects against which to benchmark chassis, braking, suspension, lighting, or exhaust condition. Any assessment of structural integrity, component wear, or pattern of deterioration must come from physical inspection rather than from a DVSA paper trail, and that distinction is critical when forming a view on this motorcycle. Mileage context for this Street Bob cannot be reliably compared with its age, as no odometer readings have been supplied and there are no MOT records against which to plot annual accumulation. A 2024 machine under two years old would ordinarily be expected to show modest mileage consistent with leisure use, but without confirmed figures there is no objective basis to confirm usage intensity, identify any extended off-road periods, or detect unusual gaps that might suggest storage, a dormant registration, or a recent change of keeper. For a heavy V-twin of this type, irregular or very low usage can carry its own mechanical implications around fuel system stale fuel, battery condition, oil migration, and brake disc corrosion, while high mileage would push attention towards clutch wear, primary chain, tyre life cycle, and fork oil degradation. The absence of data here means neither extreme can be ruled out without a hands-on evaluation and verification of the current odometer reading. Because the DVSA record carries no advisories or failure items, traditional buyer guidance based on specific flagged components cannot be offered from test data alone. Instead, attention should be directed to the areas most prone to wear and defect on the Softail platform, beginning with the rear suspension which is concealed beneath the frame and should be inspected for leakage at the shock body, sagging under the weight of the machine at standstill, and any knocking or harshness transmitted through the saddle when traversing uneven surfaces. The single front disc and brake caliper should be examined for pad material depth, uneven wear patterns indicating a binding caliper, and any scoring or lip formation on the disc edge, while a firm lever pull should be confirmed to rule out sponginess suggestive of air or moisture ingress in the hydraulic system. The Milwaukee-Eight 114 powertrain warrants a thorough check for oil seepage at the rocker covers, primary cover, and around the transmission cases, and the exhaust system including the catalyst-equipped headers should be inspected for blueing, mounting bracket integrity, and any audible blowing under load. A test ride on this motorcycle should focus on operational symmetry and warning behaviour. Cold and hot starting characteristics should be observed, along with idle quality, with particular sensitivity to any misfire, excessive vibration through the handlebars or footboards, or illuminated dashboard warnings relating to engine management or ABS. Steering should feel neutral and free of notchiness through full lock, and the rear belt or final drive should run without rhythmic slapping, tooth skip, or excessive tension. All lighting, indicators, horn, and the operation of both front and rear brake levers must be confirmed functional, as these form mandatory MOT items once the first test becomes due. In summary, the absence of MOT history does not constitute a defect, but it does mean the entire burden of roadworthiness verification falls on a physical inspection, a documented service history check, and a careful evaluation of the running gear before any purchase is committed to.
