2004 Lexus IS200 2.0L Petrol · HD54 HVV

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status based on the clean record following a period of mechanical concern. The most recent MOT test in April 2022 at 131,812 miles passed with no defects recorded, indicating that the previous issues identified in 2020 were addressed. However, as it has been four years since the last recorded test, the vehicle is currently overdue for its annual MOT and requires an immediate inspection to ensure the mechanical condition has not deteriorated during this extended period. The mileage profile is low for a 22-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 6,000 miles per year. There is a significant gap in data between November 2018 at 111,491 miles and March 2020 at 122,415 miles, where the car covered over 11,000 miles in sixteen months. While low mileage generally reduces drivetrain wear, long periods of standing can lead to the degradation of rubber components and fluid breakdown, which aligns with the historical faults noted. A buyer must conduct a thorough inspection of the structural integrity, as the March 2020 test flagged vehicle corrosion. Although the tester noted that structural rigidity was not significantly reduced at that time, rust on a Lexus of this era requires close monitoring around the sills, wheel arches, and suspension mounting points. The 2020 failure regarding a misting offside front shock absorber and a binding offside front brake should be re-checked for signs of leaks or caliper seizing, as these components are prone to seizing if the vehicle is used infrequently.
