2017 Land Rover Discovery 3.0L Diesel · HH05 GPH

The vehicle’s most recent MOT test on 2025-11-25 confirmed a pass with no recorded defects, following a pattern of alternating failures and passes at annual intervals since 2023. The lack of defects in either the failed or passed tests suggests no major recurring mechanical failures were formally documented, though the repeated failures on consecutive dates (2025-11-24 and 2025-11-25) may indicate administrative oversight rather than technical issues. Without specific advisory notes, there is no evidence of worsening structural or drivetrain concerns, but the irregular testing cycle—particularly the two-day gap in 2025—warries scrutiny of whether minor faults were overlooked or deferred. The recorded mileage of 58,118 miles over approximately nine years aligns with typical usage for this model, averaging around 6,458 miles annually. There are no obvious gaps or spikes in mileage between tests, though the absence of intermediate MOTs (such as those from 2022 or 2023) makes it impossible to confirm consistent maintenance. The steady progression suggests the vehicle has seen regular, albeit not excessive, use without prolonged periods of neglect or rapid wear. Given the lack of documented faults in recent tests, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of high-wear components such as suspension bushes, coil springs, and binding brake calipers, as these are common failure points in Land Rover models of this age. The repeated failures in 2025, despite no recorded defects, also warrant checking for subtle issues like corrosion in wheel arches, exhaust system integrity, or minor electrical faults that might have been missed during testing. Particular attention should be given to the structural integrity of the chassis and sills, as rust is a known concern for this model, especially in areas prone to moisture accumulation.
