2006 Mercedes-Benz E 3.0L Diesel · HK06 MBF

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status, though the maintenance history indicates a pattern of reactive repairs. The most recent MOT test in January 2022 at 232,053 miles resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, suggesting the vehicle was in acceptable condition at that time. However, the recurring trend of failing immediately prior to passing in both 2021 and 2022 indicates that the previous owners only addressed faults when necessary for legal compliance, rather than performing proactive preventative maintenance. The mileage accumulation is consistent with a twenty-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 11,600 miles per annum. There is a notable gap in the record between the July 2019 test and January 2021 test, during which the car covered 14,537 miles. Since the final recorded test in January 2022, there is no official safety testing data for over four years. This lack of recent documentation is a significant concern, as it fails to account for the degradation of rubber components, fluid systems, or structural integrity over the last 40,000 potential miles. A prospective buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the suspension and chassis. Given the high mileage and the age of the Mercedes-Benz, focus should be on worn control arm bushes, coil springs, and corrosion on the subframe mounting. The braking system should also be checked for binding calipers or heavily scored discs, as the record does not detail the wear levels of these consumables. Because the last MOT is four years old, checking for oil leaks and the condition of perished coolant hoses is essential to ensure the vehicle remains mechanically sound for immediate use.
