2011 Hyundai I40 1.7L Diesel · HN61 ABV

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2026-02-09 at 200,242 miles recorded a PASS with no defects, indicating a stable maintenance trend over the past five years. All prior tests from 2022 to 2025 also passed without issues, suggesting consistent upkeep. However, the absence of recorded defects does not preclude hidden wear, particularly given the high mileage for its age. The vehicle’s 200,242 miles represent an average of 13,349 miles annually, exceeding typical usage for a 15-year-old car, which may accelerate component degradation beyond standard expectations. The MOT history shows regular annual testing with no gaps, reflecting a responsible approach to compliance. Mileage progression from 159,102 miles in 2022 to 200,242 miles in 2026 reveals a steady increase, with annual increments of 10,000–11,000 miles. This pattern suggests consistent usage rather than prolonged inactivity, which could mitigate some corrosion risks but may exacerbate wear on suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake systems. The lack of advisories or failures in the record implies no critical issues were detected, though high mileage necessitates scrutiny of components prone to gradual deterioration. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the suspension for worn bushes or coil springs, which may cause uneven tyre wear or handling issues. Brake discs and pads should be checked for excessive thinning or uneven wear, common in high-mileage vehicles. Corrosion, particularly in underbody areas or door sills, warrants attention, as salt exposure or age-related decay could compromise structural integrity. While the MOT history is clean, the vehicle’s mileage and age demand a thorough pre-purchase inspection to confirm the absence of latent mechanical or structural faults.
