1983 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6L Diesel · HUM 24Y

The vehicle presents a technically roadworthy status based on its last recorded test, though the data is significantly outdated. The MOT conducted on 10 December 2021 at 67,546 miles showed a clean pass with no defects or advisories. This indicates the car was in a functional condition at that specific moment, but the lack of any testing for the subsequent four years means the current mechanical and structural integrity remains unverified and potentially compromised. The recorded mileage of 67,546 miles is exceptionally low for a 43-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 1,571 miles per year. While this low usage typically suggests less mechanical wear on the engine and drivetrain, it often masks issues associated with age-related degradation. The four-year gap since the 2021 test suggests the vehicle may have sat stationary for extended periods, which frequently leads to fluid degradation, seized components, and perished rubber regardless of the low odometer reading. A physical inspection must prioritise the structural integrity of the chassis, as older Vauxhall Cavaliers are prone to significant corrosion in the sills, floor pans, and suspension mounting points. The buyer should check for brake components that may have seized or seized during the long period of inactivity, as well as suspension bushes and hoses that have likely perished over time. Given the lapse since the last official record, a thorough check of the fuel system and exhaust emissions is essential to ensure the vehicle remains safe for modern road use beyond its last recorded data.
