2011 KIA Ceed 1.6L Diesel · HV11 OEN

The vehicle remains roadworthy, but the maintenance history shows a worsening trend regarding suspension and rubber components. While it passed the most recent test in March 2026 at 132,727 miles, the tester flagged severely deteriorated nearside and offside front suspension arm ball joint dust covers. This follows a progression of suspension issues dating back to 2023, where worn bushes and ball joints were identified, suggesting that the front end assembly is nearing the end of its service life. At 132,727 miles over 15 years, the car has averaged approximately 8,800 miles per year, which is consistent with typical UK usage for its age. The record indicates a consistent pattern of annual testing with no significant gaps in inspections. However, the mileage accumulation has not prevented recurring wear on consumable components; between 2019 and 2025, the vehicle frequently triggered advisories for brake pads, worn discs, and tyres reaching the legal limit, indicating that preventative maintenance on these items is often ignored until they reach an MOT failure threshold. Specific attention must be paid to the rear suspension and braking system. The 2024 test identified corroded coil springs on both sides, which persisted into the 2025 test alongside thin brake pads and pitted rear discs. The presence of uneven tyre wear, noted early as 2022, suggests potential alignment issues or worn shocks that have not been addressed. A buyer should verify the structural integrity of the rear coil springs and check that the noted corrosion has not progressed to structural failure in the mounting points.
