2019 Volkswagen Tiguan Match TDI 4MOTION S-A 2.0L Diesel · HX19 KNP

This Volkswagen Tiguan has maintained a clean MOT history with no defects recorded in the most recent test, conducted just over a year ago on 6 June 2025 at 42,942 miles. The vehicle passed without fail in both the 2024 and 2023 tests, though it did undergo a brief retest in June 2024 after an initial failure at 35,378 miles—though no specific faults were logged, suggesting either a minor administrative oversight or a temporary scheduling issue. The absence of advisories or recurring issues across all tests implies that major components like suspension bushes, coil springs, brake calipers, and exhaust systems have not yet reached critical wear thresholds. However, the lack of any recorded defects does not preclude the need for a thorough independent inspection, particularly given the vehicle’s age and mileage. The recorded mileage of 42,942 miles over approximately seven years suggests a steady usage pattern of around 6,135 miles annually, which is typical for a vehicle of this age. There are no significant gaps or abrupt jumps in mileage between tests, though the retest in June 2024 indicates a minor delay between the initial failure and the subsequent pass. The most notable observation is the consistent interval between MOT tests, with no evidence of prolonged periods where the vehicle may have been neglected. That said, the absence of any advisories in prior tests means there is no historical data to confirm whether minor wear—such as brake pad thickness or tyre tread depth—has been consistently monitored. Given the clean MOT record, a buyer should prioritise an inspection of high-wear components that are not routinely tested under MOT but are critical to long-term reliability. Focus on the suspension system, particularly the condition of the front and rear bushes, as well as the integrity of the coil springs for signs of fatigue or corrosion. The braking system warrants close examination, including the condition of the brake discs for uneven wear or binding calipers, which could indicate past neglect. Additionally, check for structural corrosion around the wheel arches, sills, and underbody, as TDI engines are prone to fuel system leaks and associated corrosion over time. Tyre tread depth and uniformity should also be verified, as the absence of MOT advisories does not guarantee they have been maintained at optimal levels. Finally, inspect the exhaust system for leaks or damage, particularly around the catalytic converter, which is a common failure point in diesel vehicles of this age.
