2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class 1.6L Petrol · J13 AAB

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class presents a stable and clean roadworthiness profile. The most recent test on 17 April 2025 at 14,488 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, continuing an unbroken sequence of five annual passes since 2021. No advisories or mechanical faults appear anywhere in the DVSA history, so the maintenance trend shows no worsening and no recurring problems requiring monitoring. The mileage pattern reflects exceptionally light use for an eight-year-old vehicle. The record shows 5,746 miles in May 2021, rising to 8,189 by April 2022, 10,352 by April 2023, 12,284 by May 2024, and 14,488 by April 2025. That equates to roughly 1,800 miles per year with no gaps or sudden accumulation, indicating steady low-mileage private use rather than prolonged standing followed by heavy running. The clean test history across this period suggests the previous owner kept basic upkeep current despite the low annual distances. A buyer should still commission an in-person inspection of suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake discs given the vehicle's age and the likelihood of extended idle periods between short journeys. Low mileage with infrequent use can allow corrosion to develop on structural components and brake calipers even when MOT testers record no defects. Examine the exhaust system and underbody for rust, and confirm tyre sidewalls have not perished from standing. The absence of any advisories across five tests implies conscientious ownership, but a fault-free MOT is not a substitute for a independent mechanical appraisal. Verify service records match the low-mileage claim and check for fluid degradation in the gearbox and brake lines before purchase.
