1992 Honda CD250U 0.2L Petrol · J193 RBA

An exceptionally low usage profile defines this vehicle, which has maintained a consistent record of passing MOT inspections without a single recorded defect or advisory since at least 2016. The most recent test on 18 March 2023 confirms this trend of clean roadworthiness, showing no failures across the recorded testing period. While the absence of recorded defects suggests that components such as lighting, braking systems, and exhaust emissions have met the required standards during inspection, the lack of any advisories means there is no documented evidence of emerging wear on consumables or minor structural degradation. The recorded mileage of 1,109 miles for a 1992 model represents an average annual accumulation of approximately 33 miles. This extreme level of low mileage over a 34-year lifespan indicates the vehicle has spent the vast majority of its existence stationary or in very limited use. Mechanically, such a pattern means that while traditional wear-and-tear components like brake pads, tyres, and drivetrain gears may show minimal physical depletion, the vehicle is subject to the specific risks associated with long-term dormancy. This includes the potential for seals to perish, fluids to degrade, and rubber components to harden or crack due to lack of regular thermal cycling and movement. Given the lack of documented mechanical issues in the MOT history, a prospective buyer should focus their inspection on components that are not always the primary focus of a standard MOT test but are susceptible to age-related deterioration. Pay close attention to the condition of all rubber elements, including fuel lines, intake manifolds, and suspension bushes, looking for signs of perishing or surface cracking. On a test drive, listen for any irregular vibrations through the handlebars or chassis that might indicate perished mounting points, and check for any stiffness in the controls or unevenness in the braking feel which could suggest seized calipers or aged hydraulic fluid. The extremely low mileage also necessitates a close inspection of the fuel system and electrical connections for signs of oxidation or stagnation. Check for any evidence of fluid weeping from gaskets or seals, as long-term inactivity can often lead to the failure of seals that have not been regularly lubricated by moving parts. Ensure that the engine starts readily and idles smoothly without hesitation, as this will provide insight into the current state of the fuel delivery and ignition components which have seen very little operational use.
