2025 Dacia Duster Journey TCE 4X2 Petrol · J44 JAG

As a 2025 model year Dacia Duster, this vehicle sits just outside the standard MOT testing window, which commences three years after first registration. The defining mechanical story at this stage is therefore one of unverified roadworthiness rather than documented performance. With no MOT test outcomes recorded on the DVSA database, there is no official pass or fail history, no recorded advisories, and no documented defects to evaluate. Any prospective buyer is purchasing this car entirely on the basis of its showroom or pre-sale condition, with no statutory verification of brake efficiency, suspension integrity, exhaust emissions, tyre condition, or structural corrosion. The absence of a test record is entirely consistent with the vehicle's age and should not be interpreted as evidence of mechanical soundness, reliability, or any standard of maintenance, as MOT records alone cannot establish these qualities in any case. Recorded mileage has not been supplied for this vehicle, which limits any meaningful analysis of usage patterns. Given that the car is a 2025 model, even a relatively modest annual mileage would place it well within the normal accumulation range expected for a nearly new passenger vehicle in active service. Without odometer readings across multiple test cycles, it is not possible to confirm whether the vehicle has been used predominantly for short urban journeys, longer motorway commutes, or has experienced periods of inactivity. For a turbocharged petrol Duster of this generation, the principal mechanical considerations tied to usage would be the condition of the 1.2-litre turbocharged powertrain, the state of the dual-clutch or manual transmission internals depending on specification, and the general wear profile of consumables, none of which can be assessed from the DVSA record. A physical verification of the current odometer reading against the manufacturer's service schedule is therefore essential. Because no advisories or failures have been recorded, there are no specific components flagged in the MOT history to investigate further, which means the inspection must rely entirely on a physical examination and test drive. On a road test, particular attention should be paid to the operation of the turbocharged engine under load, listening for any irregular knocking, hesitation, or excessive vibration that could indicate early turbocharger or engine management issues. The manual gearbox, if fitted, should be checked for smooth engagement across all gears, while any automatic variant should be observed for hesitant or jerky shifts. The clutch bite point should be assessed for slippage under hard acceleration, and the steering should remain precise and free from clonks or vibration when turning on full lock, as this would indicate wear in the front suspension or driveshaft components. A thorough pre-purchase inspection should also include a careful examination of the underside of the vehicle using a ramp or lift, focusing on the condition of the suspension arms, anti-roll bar linkages, and coil springs for any signs of damage, corrosion, or fluid leakage from the shock absorbers. The brake discs and pads should be inspected for wear, as even nearly new vehicles can exhibit premature disc scoring or pad glazing depending on driving style and environment. Tyres should be checked for even tread wear across both axles, as uneven wear can point to suspension geometry issues or tracking misalignment. Finally, all electronic systems, including the infotainment unit, parking sensors, lane departure warning, and any four-wheel-drive status indicators on equivalent 4x2 variants, should be verified as fully operational, with any warning lights on the instrument cluster documented and investigated through the manufacturer's diagnostic system before purchase.
