2007 Mazda 2 Antares 1.4L Petrol · JHZ 1052

The most recent MOT test conducted on 10 March 2026 resulted in a pass with no defects recorded. Evaluating the overall maintenance trend, the vehicle demonstrates a highly stable and consistent history over the last several years. Although a failure was noted in April 2018, the subsequent years have shown a clean record without any reported advisories or recurring issues. This suggests that the vehicle has been subject to regular upkeep and has not faced significant mechanical deterioration in recent years. The recorded mileage of 56,555 miles is notably low for a vehicle of this age, representing an average annual usage of approximately 2,977 miles. While this low mileage implies reduced wear on the engine, transmission, and major mechanical assemblies, it also suggests the vehicle may have spent significant periods stationary or has been used primarily for very short journeys. This specific usage profile requires a different inspection approach, as mechanical components may suffer from age-related degradation rather than traditional wear-and-tear from high mileage. Given the clean MOT history and low usage, a prospective buyer should focus on age-related components that perish over time. Closely inspect the tyres for any signs of sidewall cracking or perishing, as rubber can lose its elasticity and structural integrity even if the tread remains deep. You should also check the brake discs for heavy surface corrosion or pitting, which is common in vehicles that sit idle, and ensure the calipers are not binding. During your test drive, pay close attention to the suspension for any knocks or clunks that could indicate perished rubber bushes or weakened coil springs, as these components can degrade through time and environmental exposure. Furthermore, it is essential to verify that the vehicle has followed a calendar-based servicing schedule rather than just a mileage-based one. Ensure that fluids such as engine oil, brake fluid, and coolant have been replaced at regular intervals to prevent internal contamination or moisture absorption. Check the condition of the 12V battery, as infrequent driving can often lead to a diminished capacity or sudden failure. Finally, inspect the vehicle's underside for any signs of corrosion or structural degradation, ensuring that the lack of mileage has not masked the effects of long-term exposure to moisture or road salt.
