2014 Volkswagen Crafter 2.0L Diesel · JW60 GGW

This Volkswagen Crafter presents a clean and stable MOT history, with no defects recorded across the five most recent tests spanning from April 2022 to July 2025. The latest inspection in July 2025 at 28,153 miles confirms the vehicle meets all current roadworthiness standards without advisories or failures. The absence of recurring issues suggests either meticulous maintenance by previous owners or a vehicle that has been driven lightly enough to avoid common wear points. That said, the lack of advisories—even for routine consumables like tyres or wiper blades—raises a question mark about whether the car has been serviced comprehensively or simply not driven hard enough to trigger minor faults. The mileage of 28,153 miles over approximately 12 years (since 2014) indicates very low annual usage, averaging just 2,346 miles per year. This is unusually low for a commercial or fleet vehicle, even one used privately. The gap between the April 2023 test (17,538 miles) and the April 2024 test (18,284 miles) covers nearly a year with only 746 miles logged, while the period from July 2024 (18,378 miles) to July 2025 (28,153 miles) shows a sudden jump of 9,775 miles—nearly double the previous annual average. Such variability could imply intermittent use, storage periods, or even potential odometer discrepancies. The sparse MOT history also means there’s no evidence of how the vehicle performed before 2022, leaving a blind spot in its service record. Given the absence of advisories or defects, a buyer should still verify several key areas in person. The suspension—specifically the bushes, coil springs, and dampers—should be checked for wear, as low-mileage vehicles can still develop stiffness or leaks if fluids weren’t refreshed. The brakes, including calipers, discs, and pads, must be inspected for uneven wear or corrosion, particularly if the vehicle was stored in damp conditions. Structural integrity is critical; look for signs of rust in wheel arches, sills, and underbody panels, especially given the age of the vehicle. While the MOT record is flawless, the sudden mileage spike in the past year could indicate a change in usage, so a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is strongly advised to confirm no underlying issues have developed.
