A pattern of intermittent wear on consumables and steering components defines the mechanical profile of this vehicle, though the most recent test on 30 July 2026 shows a clean pass with no defects recorded. The history indicates a relatively stable roadworthiness trend, transitioning from suspension and steering gaiter issues in previous years to brake disc advisories in 2025. While the absence of major failures is notable, the recurring nature of advisories related to wear and tear suggests that components are reaching the end of their service life in cycles rather than failing abruptly. The recorded mileage of 251,281 miles over a 34-year lifespan represents an average annual accumulation of approximately 7,391 miles. This usage profile is consistent with typical long-term utility for a vehicle of this age and suggests a steady rate of mechanical attrition rather than heavy commercial strain or prolonged periods of inactivity. Mechanically, this level of mileage implies that while the drivetrain may be subject to standard fatigue, the vehicle has not been subjected to the extreme high-frequency cycles seen in dedicated heavy-duty transporters, though the cumulative distance necessitates close inspection of all high-wear items. Prospective buyers should pay particular attention to the braking system and steering assembly following the specific advisories noted in recent years. The 2025 advisories for pitted and scored brake discs on both the nearside and offside front wheels suggest potential surface degradation or uneven pad wear. During a test drive, listen for any rhythmic grinding noises during deceleration and feel for pedal judder or vibrations through the footwell, which would indicate disc thickness variation or warping. The 2023 minor defect regarding a damaged nearside front steering rack gaiter also warrants a visual inspection to ensure the boot is intact and free from splits, as a failure here could lead to premature steering rack wear due to grit ingress. Further scrutiny should be applied to the front suspension geometry, specifically the nearside front suspension arm bush which was flagged as worn in 2022. Even if the most recent test was clear, the age of the vehicle means rubber components are prone to perishing or cracking. On the road, the driver should check for any clunking or knocking sounds when traversing uneven surfaces or hitting bumps, and monitor for any wandering or pulling to one side during straight-line driving, which could indicate that the suspension bushings or steering components have degraded since the last recorded inspection.
