The most recent MOT test conducted on 26 July 2023 resulted in a pass with no defects recorded. This follows a similarly clean result from September 2021, indicating a stable maintenance trend. The absence of any advisories over the last two tests suggests that the vehicle has been kept in a roadworthy condition, though the lack of recorded faults may also be attributed to the very low level of operational stress placed upon the mechanical components over recent years. With a recorded mileage of 47,463 miles over a thirty-four year period, the vehicle has averaged approximately 1,396 miles per year. This is exceptionally low for a vehicle of this vintage and strongly suggests periods of prolonged inactivity or very light occasional use. While this results in minimal wear on the engine internals and drivetrain, low-mileage vehicles often suffer from degradation caused by standing, which can be more detrimental to certain components than regular, consistent use. Given the clean MOT history and low usage, the buyer must focus on age-related perishing rather than typical wear-and-tear. It is critical to inspect all tyre sidewalls for fine cracking or hardening, as rubber degrades over time regardless of tread depth. Similarly, examine the suspension bushes and engine mounts for signs of drying or splitting. During a test drive, listen for clunks from the suspension and feel for any shuddering through the brake pedal, which could indicate binding calipers or pitted brake discs resulting from long periods of standing. Attention should also be paid to the vehicle's fluid health and electrical system. Engine oil, brake fluid, and coolant degrade chemically over time, so the service history should be scrutinized to ensure these have been replaced based on a calendar interval rather than mileage. Check for any signs of fluid leaks or emulsion in the oil filler cap. Finally, verify the health of the 12V battery and inspect the chassis and underbody for surface corrosion, as moisture trapped in stagnant areas can lead to structural integrity issues even in low-mileage examples.
