2015 Land Rover Discovery 2.2L Diesel · K6 HJD

This Land Rover Discovery presents a clean MOT history, with the most recent test on 14 May 2025 at 67,814 miles showing no defects—just the third consecutive annual pass without advisories or failures. The trend is stable, with no signs of recurring mechanical issues or deferred repairs. The absence of even minor advisories over the past two years suggests either meticulous maintenance or, more likely, a vehicle that has been well cared for by its owners. That said, the lack of recorded mileage between tests (e.g., the 36,870 to 37,369-mile jump in just two months in early 2022) hints at either infrequent use or a possible clerical error in mileage logging, though neither impacts roadworthiness. The mileage accumulation of 6,165 miles per year aligns closely with the average for a vehicle of this age, reinforcing the impression of steady, moderate use rather than heavy commuting or off-road abuse. The 11-year-old Discovery has covered a modest distance, which typically reduces wear on suspension components, brake systems, and drivetrain seals—though it also means fluids and consumables may be approaching natural service intervals. The only irregularity is the two-month gap between MOTs in early 2022 , where mileage increased by just 499 miles , a figure that seems unusually low for a vehicle of this type. This could indicate a period of disuse or an error in mileage recording, but it does not raise red flags for structural or mechanical integrity. For a prospective buyer, the primary focus should be on suspension health , particularly the coil springs, anti-roll bars, and bushings , given the Discovery’s age and body-on-frame construction. While the MOT records show no failures, wear in these areas often goes unnoticed until it affects handling or alignment. Brake components —discs, pads, and calipers—should also be inspected closely, as corrosion or binding can develop even without prior MOT advisories. The exhaust system and underbody merit scrutiny for rust, especially in the UK’s climate, while fluid levels (brake, coolant, differential) should be checked for leaks or degradation. Given the clean MOT history, any issues found would likely stem from deferred maintenance rather than systemic neglect.
