A pattern of generally clean MOT outcomes emerges, punctuated only by three isolated failures that did not generate any recorded defects. The most recent test on 20 September 2024 passed without comment, and the overall trend across the eight recorded examinations is one of consistent compliance, suggesting no chronic mechanical weakness has been identified by the DVSA. At 148,191 miles the car averages just over 10,500 miles per year, a mileage rate that sits comfortably within the normal range for a fourteen‑year‑old family saloon. The testing chronology shows no prolonged gaps; the only notable clustering is a failure in early September 2023 followed by a pass a week later, and a similar sequence in late August 2022, both of which were quickly remedied. This usage profile implies steady, moderate use rather than periods of intensive high‑speed operation or long-term storage, which in turn means wear on consumables will be progressive rather than abrupt. Given the mileage and the absence of specific MOT‑recorded faults, a buyer should concentrate on components that typically reach the end of their service life around the 150‑k‑mile mark. Inspect the front and rear suspension bushes, ball joints and shock absorbers for any clunking or excessive play when the car is driven over bumps or steered hard. Examine the brake discs and pads for uneven wear, scoring or a pulsating pedal, and verify that the handbrake holds firmly without requiring excessive lever travel. Tyre tread depth should be uniform across all four wheels, and any sidewall cracking or cupping could indicate misalignment or worn suspension geometry. A thorough visual check of the under‑carriage and wheel arches for rust, especially around the subframe and exhaust hangers, is advisable, as corrosion can develop silently and affect structural integrity. Confirm that all lighting, signalling and emissions-related systems illuminate and function correctly, and listen for any abnormal engine noises that might hint at internal wear. Although the MOT record shows no recorded defects, a comprehensive pre‑purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic will verify the condition of these wear items and highlight any emerging issues before a purchase is finalised.
