2012 Nissan Elgrand 2.5L Petrol · KF12 LNA

Consistent roadworthiness defines the recent history of this Nissan Elgrand, which concluded its most recent inspection on 30 July 2026 with a clean pass and no recorded defects. This outcome follows a similarly clear test result from October 2025, establishing a two-year window of trouble-free MOT performance. While these results confirm the vehicle met the minimum safety standards at the time of testing, the absence of advisories suggests that major structural or consumable components were within tolerance during those specific assessments, though this does not preclude the presence of underlying wear that falls outside the scope of a standard annual test. Accumulating approximately 79,195 miles over a fourteen-year lifespan results in an average annual usage of roughly 5,657 miles. This lower-than-average mileage profile necessitates a careful assessment of the vehicle's rubber components and seals, which can degrade due to age and infrequent movement rather than high-intensity road use. While the MOT history does not indicate significant periods of inactivity, prospective buyers should remain mindful that vehicles with this usage pattern may have been subjected to short, stop-start journeys that can lead to carbon buildup in the engine or moisture accumulation within the exhaust system. During the test drive, pay close attention to the suspension and steering feedback, as the Elgrand is a heavy vehicle that places significant demand on its bushings, ball joints, and anti-roll bar links. Listen for any metallic clunks or knocking noises when traversing speed bumps or uneven road surfaces, which would indicate play in the suspension linkages. Given the vehicle's age, inspect the underside for any signs of surface corrosion on the subframe or chassis rails, as these areas are prone to oxidation that may not always be flagged as a failure point until it reaches a critical level of structural degradation. Assess the braking performance by ensuring the pedal feel is firm and that the vehicle tracks straight under heavy deceleration, as any judder or steering pull could point to warped discs or binding calipers. Because the recent MOT records are clear, verify that the parking brake holds the vehicle securely on an incline, as these mechanisms can occasionally seize if not used regularly. Finally, observe the exhaust for any excessive smoke during cold starts or under acceleration, which may indicate oil consumption or fuel system inefficiencies that are not captured by the basic emissions testing performed during an MOT.
