2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA 2.1L Diesel · KP66 AAO

The most recent MOT, carried out on 29 April 2026, was passed with no recorded defects, indicating that the vehicle presently meets the statutory safety and emissions standards. Over the preceding five years the MOT record shows a consistent pattern of passes, with the only issue being an advisory in December 2021 that the front brake pads were approaching the minimum thickness. The absence of any further advisories or failures in the subsequent four tests suggests that the brake wear was addressed promptly and that the overall maintenance trajectory has been stable, if not slightly improving, since that time. At ten years old the GLA has logged 70,835 miles, which works out to an average of roughly 7,000 miles per annum. This figure sits comfortably within the normal usage envelope for a vehicle of this age and does not reveal any periods of unusually high mileage accumulation that would accelerate wear on major components. There are no conspicuous gaps in the recorded mileage that would imply long periods of inactivity, so the wear pattern is likely to be consistent with steady, moderate use rather than the uneven stress associated with either very low‑mileage storage or high‑intensity short‑term use. For a prospective buyer the primary focus should be on confirming that the front brake system has been fully refreshed since the 2021 advisory. Inspect the pads for remaining thickness and look for any uneven wear that could indicate a sticking caliper; a visual inspection of the discs for scoring or glazing is advisable, and a road test should be conducted to detect any pulsation, squeal or shudder when applying the brakes, especially under moderate load. While the MOT record shows no current brake defects, the age of the vehicle means that brake fluid may be approaching the ten‑year service interval, so a fluid change should be considered if the service history does not show a recent flush. Beyond the brakes, the buyer should give particular attention to age‑related items. Tyre sidewalls should be examined for cracking, dry rot or excessive tread wear, as tyres older than six years can deteriorate even if the tread depth appears acceptable. The 12‑volt battery, likely approaching the end of its typical three‑ to five‑year life, should be tested for cranking voltage and checked for any signs of electrolyte leakage. Inspect the suspension bushings, coil springs and anti‑roll bar links for looseness, corrosion or excessive play, and listen for clunks when the vehicle is driven over bumps. Finally, verify that the coolant, engine oil and transmission fluid have been changed at the manufacturer‑recommended intervals; any evidence of discoloured fluid, oil sludge or a lack of service stamps in the logbook would warrant a fluid replacement as part of a preventative maintenance programme.
