2001 Volkswagen Transporter 2.5L Diesel · KV51 ABO

The vehicle maintains a high level of roadworthiness with a remarkably stable maintenance trend over the last five years. The most recent test conducted in September 2024 at 44,050 miles passed with no defects or advisories recorded. This consistent clean sheet across five consecutive annual tests suggests that the mechanical and structural components have remained well-maintained and free from the typical failures seen on a vehicle of this age. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a 25-year-old, averaging approximately 1,700 miles per annum. Between September 2020 and September 2024, the vehicle covered only 5,624 miles, moving from 38,426 to 44,050 miles. This low usage indicates the vehicle spends significant periods of time stationary. While low mileage reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine components, it often leads to the degradation of rubber-based parts and fluid-related issues that an MOT test may not fully detect. A prospective buyer should focus their physical inspection on areas prone to aging in low-mileage Transporters. Despite the clean MOT history, the chassis must be inspected for structural corrosion, particularly around the sills, floor pans, and suspension mounting points where moisture often settles during long stationary periods. Suspension bushes and rubber boots should be checked for cracking or perish rot due to age rather than use. Additionally, the brakes should be tested for seized calipers or pitted discs, as these components frequently suffer when vehicles are not driven regularly.
