2012 Vauxhall Astra 1.7L Diesel · LS52 CAF

The latest MOT test for the 2012 VAUXHALL Astra concluded on 2026-02-04 with a PASS result, indicating no significant defects were recorded during the inspection. This suggests a stable maintenance trend over the past year, with no major issues flagged by the DVSA. However, the vehicle’s recorded mileage of 67,327 miles, which stands at approximately 4,809 miles per year, is relatively low for a car of its age. This usage rate implies the vehicle has likely been sitting for extended periods or has experienced infrequent driving, which can affect components such as the suspension, brakes, and drivetrain. While the MOT history shows only two failed tests, the pattern leans toward consistent compliance, but the low mileage warrants careful evaluation of wear indicators. The vehicle’s age of around 14 years combined with the mileage suggests that certain mechanical systems may be nearing their expected service intervals. The suspension bushes, coil springs, and binding calipers should be inspected for signs of wear or binding, especially if the car has been stored or driven infrequently. The braking system requires attention to ensure the brake discs are not corroded and the calipers are functioning smoothly, as any binding or uneven wear could manifest during a test drive. Additionally, the 12V battery health should be verified, as age-related degradation can impact electrical systems and lighting. For buyers, it is essential to conduct a thorough physical inspection focusing on tyre condition, particularly checking for cracking or perishing on the sidewalls, which are common at this age. The 12V battery should be tested for proper voltage and terminals, and the fluid levels in the coolant, oil, and brake fluid must be checked against service intervals. Given the low mileage, the buyer should also verify service book stamps to confirm regular maintenance. If any advisories or recurring defects are present, they should be addressed before purchase to avoid future complications. Overall, while the MOT record is positive, proactive checks tailored to the vehicle’s usage profile are crucial for long-term reliability.
