2002 Suzuki Swift 1.0L Petrol · LX02 ADU

The vehicle is currently out of MOT, as the last recorded test was on 23 February 2024. The maintenance trend is stable but reactive, characterized by a pattern of failing on minor electrical faults and immediately passing once rectified. The most recent test at 51,446 miles was clean, following a failure for a non-functional offside rear stop lamp. The mileage is exceptionally low for a 24-year-old vehicle, averaging roughly 2,144 miles per year. There is a notable gap in the record between March 2019 and March 2023, during which the odometer only increased by 1,964 miles. This suggests the car spent significant periods stationary, which often increases the risk of perished rubber components and seized brakes. A buyer must prioritize a thorough inspection of the exhaust system and underbody. The tester flagged a corroded rear exhaust box as early as March 2019 at 40,842 miles, and by March 2023 at 42,708 miles, the vehicle failed due to leaks in both the central front and rear exhaust sections. While these were addressed for the pass, the recurring nature of the corrosion suggests a vulnerability to rust. Attention should also be paid to the structural integrity of the sills and floor pan. The March 2018 test at 36,710 miles explicitly noted surface rust on the offside inner sill and floor pan. Given the age of the vehicle and the evidence of exhaust corrosion, a professional check for deeper structural oxidation is necessary to ensure the chassis remains sound.
