1994 Land Rover Discovery 2.5L Diesel · M664 BHR

The vehicle in question has a long-standing pattern of mechanical attention, with a clean DVSA MOT record spanning over a decade. Despite its age—over 32 years and approximately 41,917 recorded miles—it has consistently passed inspections, suggesting a reliable build and diligent maintenance over the years. However, the mileage figures indicate a steady, if relatively low, annual accumulation, which is typical for a car of its era but warrants careful scrutiny. The absence of any defects across the recorded period points to a vehicle that has not suffered from major systemic failures, though the consistent presence of minor advisories hints at recurring issues that may have been addressed at the time. This history, while not exceptional, supports a cautious optimism about its current condition. The usage profile leans toward moderate to light engagement, with no clear evidence of heavy-duty operation or prolonged exposure to harsh conditions. The absence of significant wear indicators in the most recent assessment suggests that the car has been handled responsibly, though the cumulative effect of 41,917 miles still demands vigilance. Mechanically, this translates to a higher likelihood of components such as the suspension bushings, coil springs, and binding calipers showing signs of wear, which should be inspected during the drive for any play or stiffness. The fact that no major failures have been recorded reinforces the idea that the car has maintained a solid structural integrity, but the buyer should remain alert to subtle changes during testing. For those considering this model, the key lies in focusing on the specific areas flagged in the MOT history. The subframe and structural components should be checked for any corrosion or deformation, while the braking system warrants a thorough inspection for fluid leaks or worn pads. On a test drive, listen for any unusual knocking sounds when encountering bumps, observe steering responsiveness, and feel for any vibration patterns that could signal misalignment or worn bushings. While the overall roadworthiness remains solid, these checks are essential to confirm that the vehicle continues to perform reliably under real-world conditions.
