Because many Terios models were purchased by rural and farming owners across Scotland, Wales, and northern England, repeated exposure to wet fields, farm tracks, and heavily salted winter roads induces severe corrosion. Rust attacks the main longitudinal chassis rails, rear coil spring mountings, rear trailing arm brackets, and inner sills. Due to factory underbody protection wearing thin over time, corrosion often penetrates hollow box sections from the inside out, leading to catastrophic MOT failure and requiring extensive structural fabrication.

The permanent four-wheel-drive system subjects the rear differential assembly to continuous load. Over time, the rubber pinion shaft oil seal and half-shaft axle seals harden and leak lubricant, particularly if breather valves become clogged with road grime. Running the differential with low oil causes accelerated wear to the tapered roller bearings, producing a high-pitched metallic whine on overrun or acceleration between 40 and 60 mph. Neglected units eventually suffer crown wheel and pinion gear tooth pitting.

Due to the Terios's firm suspension setup, all-wheel-drive torque distribution, and frequent rural usage, the sealed front wheel hub bearings experience high lateral and radial stress. Moisture and grit ingress past aging seals cause pitting of the internal bearing races, resulting in a pronounced rumbling or droning noise that intensifies with vehicle speed and changes tone when loading the bearing through bends. If left unaddressed, bearing play compromises brake disc alignment and ABS wheel speed sensor operation.
