2006 Toyota Yaris 1.0L Petrol · MF56 WVZ

This Toyota Yaris has demonstrated a stable roadworthiness trend over its recent MOT history, though the February 2024 test presents an unusual anomaly. The vehicle passed its most recent examination on 2024-02-19 with no recorded defects, yet the same date also shows a failure—an inconsistency that suggests either an administrative error or a brief, undocumented issue resolved before the retest. No advisories or recurring faults appear in the 2022 or 2021 tests, indicating the tester did not flag any underlying concerns during those periods. The absence of defects in the 2021 and 2022 cycles suggests the vehicle was maintained at a baseline standard, though the double-test in 2024 warrants scrutiny of what may have prompted the initial failure. The mileage progression of 147,069 miles today reflects a steady, if unremarkable, usage pattern for a vehicle of this age. Over the past five years, the car accumulated roughly 11,000 miles annually, which aligns with typical light-to-moderate usage. There are no significant gaps or spikes in the record—from 129,647 miles in December 2021 to 135,998 miles in December 2022, and then to 147,069 miles by February 2024, the increments are consistent. This suggests the vehicle was driven regularly without prolonged periods of neglect or rapid wear. However, the lack of intermediate MOTs or service records means there is no evidence of proactive maintenance beyond the legal requirement. Given the sparse MOT history, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of high-wear components that often go unnoticed without a detailed service log. The suspension—particularly the rear coil springs and bushes—should be checked for uneven wear or corrosion, as these are common failure points in vehicles of this age. The brake system, including rear calipers and discs, should be examined for binding or excessive wear, especially if the 2024 failure was related to braking performance. Structural integrity is another critical area; the chassis rails, subframe, and wheel arches should be inspected for rust penetration or distortion, as this model is prone to corrosion in wet conditions. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions should be tested for leaks or excessive smoke, as these are frequently overlooked until they fail an MOT. Given the lack of advisories in previous tests, these areas may have been overlooked, and a pre-purchase inspection is essential to confirm their condition.
