2012 Volkswagen Golf 2.0L Diesel · MK62 ADX

The Volkswagen Golf’s most recent MOT test on 7 October 2025—just nine months ago—confirms the vehicle remains roadworthy with no defects recorded. This marks the fifth consecutive annual pass without failings, suggesting consistent compliance with UK roadworthiness standards. The absence of advisories or recurring issues in the last four tests implies no obvious mechanical trends, though the single failure in September 2022 (a rare anomaly at 113,139 miles) was resolved immediately without further mention. The tester’s clean record over the past two years aligns with a vehicle that has likely undergone regular servicing, though no service history is provided to confirm this. The recorded mileage of 133,981 miles, averaging roughly 9,570 miles annually, falls within the expected range for a 14-year-old vehicle. The gap between tests remains standard at one year, with no irregularities in mileage accumulation between passes. The slight increase from 113,139 miles in September 2022 to 122,812 miles by September 2024 suggests steady usage without aggressive driving patterns. However, the lack of intermediate servicing records means critical components like timing belts, suspension bushes, and brake fluid flushes may not have been addressed on schedule. Given the clean MOT history, a prospective buyer should prioritise an inspection of high-wear items not covered by the test. The suspension—particularly coil springs, bushes, and shock absorbers—should be examined for uneven wear or leaks, as these are common failure points at this mileage. Brake discs and calipers warrant close scrutiny for binding or excessive corrosion, especially if the vehicle has seen wet or salted roads. Structural integrity, including underbody corrosion around the sills and wheel arches, must be checked, as rust can compromise the chassis over time. The exhaust system should be inspected for leaks or excessive rust, particularly around joints and the catalytic converter. Finally, the battery and electrical connections should be tested, as age-related failures are increasingly likely.
