2005 Volvo V70 2.4L Diesel · OE55 AXA

The 2005 Volvo V70 is currently roadworthy following its most recent MOT on 2026-03-13, which it passed with minor defects related to rear tyre wear. The maintenance trend shows a stable pattern over the past two years, with only one failure recorded in April 2025 due to a non-functioning front position lamp. This suggests consistent upkeep, though the repeated tyre wear indicates a need for attention to suspension alignment and potential bushing wear. The vehicle has accumulated approximately 6,054 miles per year over its 21-year lifespan, which is within the expected range for its age. Mileage progression appears steady, with no significant gaps or sudden spikes in distance between MOTs. The most recent test at 127,125 miles confirms the car has been regularly maintained, though the consistent rear tyre wear may point to underlying suspension issues or improper alignment. Buyers should conduct a thorough inspection of the rear suspension components, particularly the bushes and coil springs, as uneven tyre wear often stems from worn suspension parts. The front position lamp failure, while minor, warrants checking the bulb, fuse, and wiring for recurring issues. Additionally, inspect the brake discs and calipers for binding or uneven wear, as rear brake problems can contribute to tyre damage. Structural rust, especially in the rear wheel arches and underbody, should also be examined, as Volvo V70s from this era can develop corrosion in these areas.
