2008 Volkswagen Passat Sport TDI 4MOTION 2.0L Heavy oil · OY08 ACF

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-06-04 at 142,845 miles recorded a pass with no defects, indicating a stable roadworthiness status. However, the preceding test on 2025-05-14 at 142,517 miles resulted in a failure despite no defects being listed, suggesting a potential administrative or procedural issue. No recurring mechanical or structural faults are evident in the history, and the absence of advisories or critical failures in the last three tests implies consistent maintenance. The car’s age and mileage align with typical usage patterns, but the lack of detailed defect reports limits definitive conclusions about its mechanical health. The vehicle’s mileage progression shows a steady increase, averaging 7,936 miles annually over 18 years, which is within expected parameters. Notable gaps include a two-year interval between the 2021-09-14 test (121,108 miles) and the 2023-01-04 test (126,905 miles), during which 5,797 miles were recorded. This suggests sporadic usage or possible periods of inactivity, which could affect components like the battery, suspension, or engine seals. The 2024-04-11 test at 137,302 miles marked a 10,397-mile jump from the 2023 test, reflecting normal wear but no immediate red flags. The MOT history lacks anomalies, though the 2025 failure without defects remains unexplained. A buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of the braking system, suspension components, and exhaust emissions, as these areas often degrade with age and mileage. The absence of corrosion or structural issues in the MOT records is reassuring, but the 2025 failure warrants scrutiny of potential underlying faults. Checking for fluid leaks, tyre wear patterns, and steering alignment would also provide clarity. While the vehicle appears well-maintained, the lack of detailed defect data means a hands-on assessment is essential to confirm its condition.
