2005 Volkswagen Touran 1.9L Diesel · PJ05 JVD

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness profile, though the recent history indicates a shift toward reactive rather than proactive maintenance. The most recent MOT recorded in November 2022 at 128,556 miles showed a pass following a failure just one day prior. This suggests the owner addressed identified mechanical faults immediately to maintain legal compliance. However, given that no test has been recorded for over three years, the vehicle is now significantly overdue for its annual inspection, and the current state of the braking system and rubber components remains unverified by a fresh report. The mileage pattern is consistent with a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 6,100 miles per year. Between the December 2019 test at 109,178 miles and the November 2022 test at 128,556 miles, the car covered roughly 19,000 miles, indicating steady but light usage. This low annual mileage generally reduces wear on the drivetrain, but it can lead to the degradation of stationary components. The failure in October 2022 due to a split offside front outer driveshaft CV boot and pitted rear brake discs indicates that while the car is driven infrequently, the components are susceptible to environmental corrosion and age-related perish. A buyer must prioritize a physical inspection of the front driveshafts and boots, as the previous split boot in 2022 suggests a risk of grease loss and grit ingress which can lead to joint failure if not monitored or replaced. The rear brake assembly should also be checked for thickness of the discs and the condition of the calipers, as these were specifically flagged for wear and pitting during the last test. Furthermore, because the rear row seat belts were not tested in December 2021 due to luggage, the locking mechanisms must be manually verified to ensure they function correctly under tension. The long gap in MOT history also necessitates a thorough check for structural rust and fluid leaks, which are common on Tourans of this era.
