2012 Audi A3 1.6L Diesel · PK12 WGF

The vehicle currently presents a questionable roadworthiness status following its most recent test failure. While the Audi has maintained a clean record for several years, the failure on August 7, 2025 at 156,464 miles represents a significant break in a previously stable trend. Because no specific defects were recorded for this failure, the vehicle likely failed on a non-visual item such as an emissions threshold or a specific mechanical component that had not been flagged in the preceding clean inspections. The mileage pattern remains consistent with typical annual usage for a vehicle of this age, averaging approximately 11,000 miles per year. There is a three-year gap between the July 2019 and January 2022 tests, during which the car covered 22,098 miles. Since that period, the mileage has increased at a steady pace, roughly 7,000 miles annually over the last three years. This consistent accumulation suggests the car has been in regular use rather than sitting idle, which typically places predictable wear on rubber components, suspension bushings, and braking system hardware. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection to determine the cause of the 2025 failure. Given the high mileage of over 156,000 miles, attention should focus on the structural integrity of the subframe and the condition of the control arms and shock absorbers. Check for signs of weeping brake calipers or worn brake discs, as these are common failure points at this interval. Since no advisories were listed in the previous years, the owner appears to have addressed issues reactively, but the recent failure indicates that a component has now reached the end of its service life and requires immediate investigation.
