2013 Vauxhall Zafira 2.0L Diesel · PL13 BWH

A recurring pattern of oil leakage and progressive wear on consumables defines the mechanical profile of this Vauxhall Zafira. While the vehicle passed its most recent MOT on 13 May 2025, the history shows a persistent oil leak that has been noted as an advisory since at least May 2023. This indicates a long-term seepage that, while not currently classified as excessive, requires close monitoring to ensure it does not escalate into a major failure or lead to component contamination. The recent failure regarding a non-functional offside rear stop lamp suggests minor lapses in basic electrical maintenance, though the subsequent pass indicates this was rectified. The vehicle has covered 135,191 miles over its thirteen-year lifespan, representing a consistent annual average of approximately 10,400 miles. This usage pattern is typical for a family vehicle of this age and suggests regular, predictable operation rather than long periods of stationary storage. Mechanically, this level of mileage means the vehicle is entering a phase where wear on major drivetrain components, suspension bushings, and cooling systems is expected. The steady accumulation of miles aligns with the recorded wear seen on braking components and tyres, suggesting the vehicle has been used consistently in a manner that subjects its consumables to standard road wear. Prospective buyers should pay particular attention to the braking system and the reported oil leak during a physical inspection and test drive. The MOT history shows a multi-year trend of worn brake discs and thinning brake pads, which suggests the braking components are frequently at the limit of their service life. During a test drive, listen for any grinding noises during deceleration and feel for any pedal judder or pulsations, which could indicate warped or heavily lipped discs. Furthermore, inspect the engine bay and the ground beneath the vehicle for fresh traces of oil to determine if the previously noted leak is active or has stabilized. Tyre condition also requires scrutiny, as recent tests have flagged uneven wear on both front and rear tyres. This pattern of wearing on the edges can be a symptom of incorrect tyre pressures or, more critically, misaligned geometry such as worn suspension bushes or incorrect toe settings. On the test drive, pay close attention to the steering feedback; any pulling to one side or a wandering sensation through the steering wheel could indicate that the suspension or steering linkages require adjustment or replacement. Ensure all exterior lighting, specifically the rear stop lamps, is fully operational to avoid immediate post-purchase compliance issues.
