1985 Mercedes-Benz 230 2.3L Petrol · PMO 224X

The vehicle is currently roadworthy, having passed its most recent test in September 2022 with no defects recorded. The maintenance trend appears stable to improving, as the mechanical issues identified in 2019 and 2020 have been addressed. The two most recent inspections were clean, suggesting that the primary mechanical systems are being maintained effectively. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a 44-year-old vehicle, averaging roughly 2,000 miles per year. There is a notable gap in usage between 2019 and 2022, where the car covered only about 2,500 miles over three years. While low mileage reduces overall wear on the engine and drivetrain, it often indicates long periods of standing, which can sometimes lead to rubber-related degradation or seized components despite the lack of actual distance driven. A prospective buyer should focus their in-person inspection on the suspension system, as the history shows previous issues with ball joint dust covers and anti-roll bar ball joints. Given the low mileage and potential for sitting, it is vital to check for perished rubber, seals, and bushings that may have aged rather than worn. Additionally, a thorough check for structural rust on the chassis and underbody is essential, as vehicles of this era are highly susceptible to corrosion regardless of the mileage recorded.
