1978 Viking Roadster 3.4L Petrol · PNP 490T

The 1978 Viking Roadster presents a stable roadworthiness profile, with the most recent test on 3 October 2023 at 93,794 miles returning a pass with no defects recorded. The maintenance trend is steady rather than worsening, as every test from 21 August 2018 through to 2023 shows clean results aside from a single administrative failure on 2 July 2021 at 93,528 miles where the tester logged no defects. This suggests the vehicle has been kept to a basic standard sufficient for MOT compliance, with no recurring mechanical or structural faults flagged across the five-year visible record. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a 48-year-old vehicle, totalling just 93,794 miles or roughly 1,954 miles per year. Between the 21 August 2018 test at 93,471 miles and the 2 July 2021 test at 93,528 miles the car covered only 57 miles, and from 2022 at 93,792 miles to 2023 at 93,794 miles it added a mere two miles. Such minimal use implies long periods of storage, with a notable gap between the 2018 and 2021 tests of nearly three years. The sparse, clean record gives little evidence of consumable wear or heavy drivetrain use, though low mileage alone does not confirm condition. A buyer should physically inspect suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers for perishing or binding caused by prolonged standing rather than road wear. The tester recorded no corrosion or structural integrity issues, but a 1978 chassis demands close checking of outriggers, floor pans, and exhaust mounting points for hidden rust. Tyres and brake discs may show age cracking despite low mileage, and the single 2021 failure with no defects noted warrants confirmation that the DVSA entry reflected a paperwork or presentation issue rather than an unrecorded fault.
