1979 MG B 1.8L Petrol · PNP 576T

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-11-10 at 6,415 miles resulted in a failure, though no defects were recorded. Previous tests from 2021 to 2024 show consistent passing status with no reported issues, indicating a stable maintenance record over the past four years. The lack of defects in the latest failure suggests either a technical anomaly or an oversight, but the absence of prior concerns implies the car has been well-maintained within the observed timeframe. The mileage progression from 5,774 miles in 2021 to 6,415 miles in 2025 reflects an average annual increase of 136 miles, consistent with minimal usage over 47 years. This low mileage may indicate long periods of inactivity, which can accelerate wear on components like rubber seals, suspension bushes, and electrical systems. The sparse MOT history, with no advisories or recurring faults, suggests the vehicle has not undergone significant mechanical stress, but the extended gaps between tests (up to 13 months) limit insight into gradual deterioration. A buyer should prioritize inspecting the car’s structural integrity, particularly for rust or corrosion, given its age and low mileage. Suspension components, including coil springs and bushings, may require scrutiny for stiffness or degradation from inactivity. The braking system, steering, and engine mounts should also be checked for wear, as infrequent use can lead to binding or seizing. While the MOT record shows no immediate risks, the vehicle’s condition hinges on its storage history and the previous owner’s maintenance practices.
