1998 Cadillac Seville SLS V8 Auto 4.6L Petrol · R515 FND

This Cadillac Seville SLS, tested most recently on 18 March 2022 at 59,528 miles, carries a clean MOT record with no defects or advisories recorded. The absence of any failures or warnings suggests the vehicle passed all mandatory and advisory checks without incident, though the data is limited to a single test. Without subsequent MOTs or service records, there is no evidence of recurring issues or progressive wear patterns. The last test date, nearly four and a half years ago, means the vehicle has not undergone a mandatory roadworthiness inspection since—an extended period that raises questions about its current condition, particularly given its age and mileage. The recorded mileage of 59,528 miles over approximately 28 years equates to an average of around 2,126 miles annually, which is unusually low for a vehicle of this age. Such low mileage could indicate prolonged periods of non-use or storage, which may have contributed to issues such as flat tyres, battery failure, or degraded fluids. The lack of intermediate MOTs or service records means there is no confirmation of regular maintenance, which is critical for preventing hidden corrosion, suspension degradation, or drivetrain wear. The absence of any mileage gaps or rapid accumulation in the single available record does not provide clarity on how the vehicle was used or maintained between tests. Given the sparse MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of high-wear components that are not covered by the MOT but are critical for safety and reliability. The suspension, particularly the coil springs, bushes, and shock absorbers, should be examined for excessive play, leaks, or corrosion—common issues in a vehicle of this age and mileage. Brake systems, including calipers, pads, and discs, warrant thorough inspection for uneven wear, binding, or corrosion, as these are not always flagged in MOT tests but can pose serious safety risks. Structural integrity, especially around the frame rails, sills, and wheel arches, should be assessed for rust penetration or weakening, as prolonged non-use can accelerate deterioration. Fluid levels and condition—brake, engine, transmission, and coolant—should also be checked, as low mileage does not necessarily correlate with recent fluid changes.
