The vehicle’s most recent MOT test on 22 June 2024, at 84,942 miles, confirms it remains roadworthy under current UK standards, with no defects or advisories recorded. The preceding test on 17 May 2023, at 84,784 miles, also passed without issue, indicating a stable maintenance history over the past two years. While the absence of recurring faults suggests the vehicle has been reliably serviced—or at least not subjected to serious mechanical failures—this does not preclude age-related wear. The 2024 test was conducted just over a year ago, which is within the acceptable window for a vehicle of this age, though a pre-purchase inspection remains essential to verify current condition. The recorded mileage of 84,942 miles over approximately 28 years equates to an average of around 3,000 miles per annum, a figure significantly lower than the UK average for vehicles of this era. This suggests the car has either been lightly used or stood unused for extended periods. The gap between tests—just 1,158 miles in a year—implies minimal driving between inspections, which could either mean the vehicle was stored or driven infrequently. There are no signs of rapid mileage accumulation or aggressive usage, but the low annual mileage also raises questions about whether critical components like fluids, suspension, or brakes have been regularly serviced. The lack of mileage between tests makes it difficult to assess whether maintenance was truly consistent or merely deferred. Given the vehicle’s age and the sparse MOT record, a buyer should prioritise an inspection of high-wear items that are not routinely checked in standard MOT tests. The suspension, particularly coil springs and bushes, will likely show signs of fatigue after nearly three decades, as will the brake system—including calipers, pads, and discs—for binding or uneven wear. Structural integrity, especially around wheel arches and sills, should be scrutinised for corrosion, which can compromise safety. The exhaust system may also require attention, as older vehicles often develop leaks or rust-induced failures. While the MOT history offers no red flags, these areas are critical to assess in person, as they are not always captured in a test focused on immediate roadworthiness.
