2008 Hyundai Getz GSI 1.1L Petrol · REZ 1924

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-07-29 at 105,065 miles showed no defects, indicating a stable maintenance trend over the past three years. All prior tests from 2019 to 2024 also passed without issues, suggesting consistent upkeep. However, the 2025 test is now over a year old, and the car’s age—18 years with low annual mileage of approximately 5,800 miles—raises concerns about potential long-term wear on components not assessed in MOTs, such as suspension bushes or corrosion. The mileage progression shows gradual accumulation, with 78,277 miles in 2019 rising to 105,065 by 2025. A notable gap exists between the 2019 test (78k) and 2022 (83k), spanning three years with only 5k miles recorded, which may indicate periods of inactivity. Subsequent tests show steady increases, but the lack of data between 2022 and 2023 (10k miles) and 2024 (4k miles) suggests irregular monitoring. This pattern, combined with the car’s age, warrants scrutiny of mechanical components beyond MOT requirements. A physical inspection should focus on suspension components, including coil springs and bushings, which may degrade over time without visible defects. Brake discs and calipers, though unmentioned in MOT records, could show wear from low-mileage use, such as corrosion or uneven pad contact. Structural integrity, particularly underbody rust, is critical given the vehicle’s age. The absence of advisories in MOTs is positive, but the low mileage and extended intervals between tests mean hidden issues may persist. Buyers should seek a detailed pre-purchase inspection to confirm the car’s condition beyond recorded data.
