2014 Vauxhall Zafira 2.0L Diesel · RF03 REB

With a 2014 Vauxhall Zafira showing a clean pass on the most recent MOT dated 5 September 2025 and absolutely no advisories or defects recorded on any of its recent tests, the immediate roadworthiness picture is straightforwardly positive. The single oddity in the file is the tightly clustered three-test sequence at the start of September 2025, where the vehicle failed on the 2nd and 4th before passing on the 5th with no defects noted. That pattern is almost certainly explained by the tester being unable to access or correctly identify certain readings during the early tests rather than by any genuine mechanical deterioration, because a component fault serious enough to fail on consecutive days would normally appear in the defect comments. The earlier test on 2 May 2024 follows the same shape, with a fail recorded on the same day as the pass and again no defects logged, reinforcing the likelihood of administrative or procedural test-day issues rather than underlying vehicle defects. Overall the DVSA record shows no advisories on corrosion, braking components, suspension, exhaust, or tyres, which is a notably clean sheet for a twelve-year-old people carrier. At 95,146 miles against twelve years of age, this Zafira is running at an average of roughly 7,900 miles per year, which is broadly typical for a family MPV of its generation and suggests fairly steady rather than extreme usage. There are no significant gaps in the MOT testing record that would imply long periods off the road, and no obvious mileage jumps between tests to suggest clock irregularities or missed annual accumulation. Mechanically, this level of use means the major wear items such as suspension bushes, anti-roll bar linkages, brake discs, pads, and the dual-mass flywheel if equipped with a manual gearbox have had realistic working life but are unlikely to be at absolute end-of-service point purely from mileage alone. Diesel or petrol variants of the Zafira Tourer generation should also be evaluated for timing chain condition on petrol units or injector and dual-mass flywheel wear on diesels at this mileage, although none of those items have been flagged by the tester. For a prospective buyer, the absence of any recorded advisories means the standard pre-purchase inspection checklist should be applied thoroughly, paying particular attention to the areas historically prone to wear on this platform. On the test drive, listen for clonking or knocking from the front suspension over speed humps and uneven surfaces, as front lower wishbone bushes, anti-roll bar drop links, and top mount bearings are known to deteriorate on Zafiras and would not necessarily show up at MOT speed. Check for any pulling under braking or a soft, spongy pedal feel that could indicate binding calipers or fatigued brake pipes, and inspect the inner and outer faces of the front discs for a lipped or corroded edge. Steering should remain precise with no excess free play at the straight-ahead position, and any vibration through the wheel above 50 mph could point to wheel imbalance, tyre wear, or a worn front strut. Underneath the vehicle, pay close attention to the rear suspension turrets and subframe mounting areas for any surface corrosion bubbling through the paint, as well as the sills and wheel arches, since the Zafira Tourer is known to develop rust in these zones once past the ten-year mark. Inspect the exhaust system mid and rear sections for any blowing joints or hangers that have detached, and check the engine bay for signs of oil misting around the cam cover or rocker cover gasket, which on higher-mileage petrol units can lead to oil consumption issues. Finally, confirm that all warning lamps extinguish promptly after ignition, that the air conditioning blows cold, that the electric tailgate or sliding rear doors operate smoothly if fitted, and that the seven-seat configuration folds and latches correctly, as these convenience items are often overlooked on family MPVs but can be costly to rectify. With its clean advisory record and typical mileage, this Zafira presents as a mechanically reasonable proposition provided the usual wear items are inspected in person.
