2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE SDV6 A 3.0L Diesel · RR65 LJT

The most recent MOT history for this 2015 Range Rover Sport HSE SDV6 reveals a stable but irregular maintenance pattern, with the vehicle passing its last test in July 2024 at 76,293 miles after a prior failure just 11 days earlier at 76,166 miles. The absence of defects in both outcomes suggests the issues prompting the failure were likely minor administrative or procedural rather than mechanical—common in cases where documentation or minor consumables (e.g., tyre tread depth, headlight alignment) were overlooked. The clean pass rate across the remaining tests, including a 2023 and 2022 MOT with no advisories or defects, implies the vehicle has not suffered from chronic mechanical failures. However, the two consecutive tests in mid-2024—one failing, one passing—raise a question mark over whether the previous owner addressed underlying concerns promptly or if the failure was resolved with basic compliance checks rather than substantive repairs. The mileage accumulation of 76,293 miles over 11 years aligns closely with the average for its age, averaging around 6,936 miles annually, which is neither excessively high nor alarmingly low. The most notable gap appears between the 2019 test at 45,261 miles and the 2022 test at 63,043 miles—a span of nearly three years with just 17,782 miles covered. This suggests the vehicle may have seen lighter use or prolonged periods of inactivity, potentially reducing wear on high-stress components like suspension bushes or brake pads. The absence of mileage spikes or rapid degradation in MOT results further supports the idea that the car has not been subjected to aggressive driving or neglect, though the 2024 failure does warrant closer scrutiny of recent servicing records. For a prospective buyer, the primary focus should be on verifying whether the mid-2024 failure was resolved with genuine repairs or merely cosmetic compliance. Key areas to inspect include the suspension system—particularly the coil springs, anti-roll bars, and bushings—given the Range Rover Sport’s tendency for wear in off-road or uneven conditions. The brakes, especially the rear calipers, should be checked for binding or uneven wear, as the 2024 failure could hint at past issues not fully addressed. Structural integrity is less of a concern given the clean MOT history, but a thorough check for corrosion in wheel arches, underseal degradation, and exhaust mounting points is advisable. Tyre condition and tread depth should also be confirmed, as the absence of advisories in past tests does not guarantee they have been consistently maintained.
