2016 Audi A3 1.4L Petrol · S4 LLN

The latest MOT test conducted on 16 April 2025 resulted in a pass with no defects recorded. Looking back through the history since 2022, the vehicle has maintained a remarkably stable maintenance trend, passing four consecutive inspections without a single failure or advisory. This suggests a vehicle that has been kept in a high state of repair or has experienced very little mechanical stress over the recent years. With a recorded mileage of 31,456 miles over approximately ten years, this Audi A3 has averaged roughly 3,146 miles per year. This is significantly lower than the national average for a vehicle of this age. While low mileage generally implies minimal wear on the engine internals, gearbox, and suspension components, it also indicates that the car may have spent extended periods stationary, which introduces a different set of mechanical risks related to inactivity. Given the clean MOT record and low usage, the primary focus for a physical inspection should be on age-related degradation rather than wear and tear. You must carefully examine the tyre sidewalls for signs of perishing or hairline cracking, as rubber degrades over time regardless of remaining tread depth. Additionally, inspect the brake discs for heavy surface corrosion or pitting, and during the test drive, listen for any sticking or binding calipers that can occur when a vehicle is not driven frequently. It is essential to verify the service history to ensure that oil and other critical fluids have been changed based on time intervals rather than mileage alone. Brake fluid and engine oil degrade chemically over time, and neglected intervals can lead to internal sludge or moisture contamination. Finally, check the health of the 12V battery and ensure there are no signs of leakage or corrosion on the terminals, as low mileage vehicles are often prone to battery depletion and premature failure.
