2024 MG 4 Trophy Electric · S55 GAG

A 2024 MG4 Trophy presents a notably sparse DVSA roadworthiness picture because no MOT test results have been recorded for this vehicle. Because the car was first registered in 2024, it would not have required an MOT test until its third anniversary of registration, which falls in 2027. As such, the absence of MOT history is entirely consistent with a vehicle that is still within its first three years and is not legally required to undergo annual roadworthiness testing. This means there is no DVSA-verified pass or failure data, no recorded advisories, and no historical defect pattern to draw upon for evaluation. The recorded mileage is not available, and with no MOT tests on file there is no annual mileage accumulation rate to assess against the vehicle's age. A two-year-old example of this model would typically have covered between ten thousand and thirty thousand miles depending on use, but without an odometer reading or mileage progression across tests this cannot be confirmed. It is also worth noting that as a relatively modern electric vehicle, the MG4 does not accumulate mileage on internal combustion ancillaries such as clutch, timing belt, or exhaust components, though suspension, steering, brakes, and tyres will still wear in proportion to distance travelled and road conditions. From a buyer inspection perspective, the absence of MOT data means a physical inspection and test drive must form the entirety of the mechanical evaluation. Particular attention should be paid to the condition of the tyres, as the MG4 Trophy is known to be relatively heavy for its class and can wear front tyres unevenly if wheel alignment is out of specification; uneven inner or outer tread wear would warrant a four-wheel geometry check. Brake discs and pads should be inspected for wear, as EV regenerative braking reduces pad use but can lead to disc corrosion if the vehicle is predominantly driven in low-regen modes or used for short journeys. On the test drive, listen for suspension knocks or clonks over speed humps and uneven surfaces, which could indicate worn dampers or anti-roll bar links, and check for any steering pull, vibration through the wheel, or inconsistent brake pedal feel. Underneath the vehicle, the underside should be visually inspected for any signs of battery tray damage or impact marks, as the MG4's underfloor battery pack sits low to the ground and can be vulnerable to kerbing or speed bump strikes. The high-voltage cabling around the front and rear subframes should be checked for any chafing or signs of damage. Inside the cabin, all dashboard systems including the infotainment unit, driver display, reversing camera, and any warning messages should be confirmed as functioning correctly, as software and electrical glitches have been a recurring complaint area on earlier MG4 examples. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified EV-aware garage, ideally one with MG diagnostic capability, is strongly recommended given that no MOT verification exists and the buyer is relying entirely on the present mechanical condition.
