1998 LDV Convoy 2.5L Diesel · S748 AOX

An exceptionally clean roadworthiness profile defines this vehicle, with no recorded defects or advisories across its recent inspection history, including the most recent pass on 15 July 2024. This trend of defect-free testing suggests that the essential safety and environmental components, such as the braking system, lighting, and exhaust emissions, have remained within operational parameters during their most recent assessments. The recorded mileage of 15,623 miles represents an unusually low usage pattern for a 28-year-old vehicle, averaging roughly 558 miles per annum. While this implies minimal wear on high-friction consumables like brake pads, discs, and clutch assemblies, such infrequent use carries the mechanical risk of component degradation due to inactivity. Long periods of standing can cause rubber bushings to perish, seals to dry out, and fluids to lose their effectiveness, which may not always be captured in a standard MOT test. Because the MOT history lacks specific advisories, the inspection should focus on the potential side effects of low usage. During a test drive, listen for any knocking or creaking from the suspension linkages or dampers, and check for any steering pull or vibration that could indicate perished rubber components. It is also vital to check the braking system for binding calipers or a lack of pedal firmness, as stationary vehicles are prone to hydraulic issues or seizure. Finally, inspect the engine and transmission for any signs of oil weeping from gaskets or seals, as these components often require regular movement to maintain their integrity.
