2005 BMW X5 3.0L Diesel · S88 RGS

The vehicle currently holds a valid MOT certificate following a pass on 9 July 2025 at 171,803 miles. The maintenance trend appears stable, as the record shows a consistent ability to pass tests without any recorded defects or advisories. This is a rare result for a vehicle of this age and suggests a high standard of preventative maintenance. The mileage is typical for a 21 year old car, averaging roughly 8,181 miles per year. The usage pattern remains steady, with 6,093 miles covered between the January 2024 test and the July 2025 pass. There are no erratic jumps in mileage or long periods of inactivity that would suggest neglect or hidden deterioration. The MOT history is unusually clean, with no recorded failures for mechanical defects, suspension wear, or corrosion across several years. While the record shows failures in December 2023 and May 2025, the lack of listed defects suggests these may have been administrative or minor issues resolved immediately. A buyer should still conduct a thorough physical inspection of the chassis and suspension bushes. High mileage BMW X5s often suffer from structural corrosion and worn coil springs, which may not always be flagged if the vehicle is serviced at a specialist. Focus on checking for oil leaks from the engine and gearbox, as these common wear items are not always captured in a standard MOT test.
